People often ask me where an idea for a painting begins.
Sometimes it starts with a color.
Sometimes with a single sentence.
Sometimes with a question that refuses to leave me alone.
What follows is rarely a straight line. Layers of paint are added and removed. Symbols appear unexpectedly. Meanings evolve. By the time a painting is finished, it has become something larger than the original idea that inspired it.
For years, I wondered what would happen if those paintings could speak.
Not to explain themselves.
Not to tell viewers what they should think.
But simply to share their own voice.
That question became In Their Own Words.
Every Painting Has a Voice
When I create a painting, I often write alongside it.
Sometimes it's poetry.
Sometimes it's a reflection.
Sometimes it's a few scattered thoughts written in the middle of the night before they disappear.
Writing has always been part of my creative process. It helps me explore emotions that colors alone cannot always express.
Painting and poetry have never felt like separate art forms to me. They've always been two different languages telling the same story.
Where AI Enters the Story
Artificial intelligence didn't create my artwork.
It didn't paint the canvas.
It didn't write the emotions behind the piece.
Those belong to me.
What AI allows me to do is something entirely different.
It gives each completed work a voice.
Using the symbolism, themes, and poetry already woven into each painting, I create narrated experiences that invite viewers to hear the artwork speak—as though it were reflecting on its own existence.
It's not about replacing the imagination.
It's about extending it.
A New Way to Experience Art
For centuries, paintings have communicated through silence.
Every viewer brings their own experiences and discovers something different.
That mystery remains.
The narrated pieces are not intended to define what the artwork means. Instead, they offer another doorway into the conversation.
Some people connect first through color.
Others through symbolism.
Others through the written word.
And now, perhaps, through a voice.
Each experience is simply another invitation to pause and look a little longer.
Tradition Meets Innovation
I've always believed that artists should embrace new tools without abandoning timeless craftsmanship.
The brush remains in my hand.
The texture is still built layer by layer.
The canvas still carries every decision, every correction, and every imperfection that makes original art human.
Technology doesn't replace that process.
It simply allows me to tell the story in another language.
Just as painters once embraced new pigments, photographers embraced digital cameras, and musicians embraced new instruments, I see artificial intelligence as another creative medium—one that expands how stories can be shared while honoring the authenticity of the original work.
An Invitation
My hope is that In Their Own Words encourages people to spend a little more time with each painting.
To look beyond the surface.
To notice details they may have missed.
To hear a poem.
To feel an emotion.
To discover that every piece of art contains more than what first meets the eye.
Because great art doesn't end when the paint dries.
